Haglöfs Åre Extreme Challenge tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the 20th edition of Haglöfs Åre Extreme Challenge, also the European Multisport Championship.

The race starts with 25 km of kayaking from Tännforsen to Åre on Indalsälven (including two class II rapids). After the transition in Åre, racers run over the peak of Åreskutan (1000  m climbing) and down to Huså, a total distance of 15 km, where they pick up their bike and head out for 35 km of mountainbiking including some tough climbs and narrow downhills. Winning time last year was 4h 53 minutes, maybe that will be beaten this year considering the dry and fast bike trails, compared to previous races.

Team Haglöfs Silva have had a great success in the previous four races with josefina winning in 2012, Björn winning in 2013, Robert in 2014 (Björn 2nd, Mattias 3rd) and Robert in 2015 (Mattias 2nd and Josefina 3rd). This year it won’t be possible to repeat the success in 2014, as both Aaron and Robert had to skip the race due to family reasons. Neither could Josefina race, being seven month pregnant.

Mattias and Björn will do their best to defend the team colours, though none of them think they have had close to a perfect build up towards the race. With many strong competitors focusing hard on the HÅEC this year it is gonna be a very hard battle for the podium, fingers crossed that at least one of the guys will be wearing Haglöfs clothing!
