After a really tough last day of racing, Team Haglöfs Silva finished in 4th place in the 12th edition of the Wulong Mountain Quest in China. The last stage started in Wulong City with a short run to the kayaks. The kayaking was on the fast flowing Wulong River where we reached speeds of up to 20 km/h.
After the kayking, there was mountainbiking up into the Mountains with about 1100m of climbing in warm weather. We were suffering badly, but kept up the pace and were only a few minutes behind the top teams. We had a good first half of the next running section, but had some dehydration problems in the last hour of the tough predominantly downhill run. The race finished with a 50 meter abseil from the bridge that can be seen over Mattias’ shoulder in the above photo, the same bridge that we also crossed on the first run. After that it was only a couple of kilometers running to the finish line. We finished 6th for the day, just behind Redbull and peakadventure.com.au and in the overall results for the four days we finished 4th.
Mattias and Josefina have now travelled to Suqian where the next race starts the 6th of September. Robert and Scott turned back home to Sweden. Björn and Emil Dahlqvist will come to the next race and team up with Mattias and Josefina.
