Mattias and Robert won LeGrand Tour in Filipstad today! The race started with a prologue consisting of running, bike/run and mountainbiking. Next leg was a longer run and it was close between the teams when the next leg started, kayaking. Mattias and Robert took the lead of the paddling and could extend to an one hour lead in the end of the section (almost 6 hours including a 7 km orienteering in the middle of the paddling section).
Next was a 92 km mountainbike section which we started in late evning and it was almost dark. The bike section had really nice single tracks and also some very technical trails. The bikes were then left for a longer orienteering section starting around 2 o’clock in the night. We still had a lead of approximately one hour. The temperature was -2 and the water in the bottles was frozen…
The orienteering section took about three hours and included some wet passages on mires. Luckily no swimming this year. Finally there was a mountainbiking section of 22 km finishing the race. We kept the speed and could pass the finish line as winners of LeGrand Tour 2014! The first time we raced together in LeGrand Tour was in 2006 and this year was the first doing the race together again.

Grattis till ännu en “victory” och dessutom en säker sådan sett till tiden. Utifrån hur många som gjorde DNF förstår man att ni fått slita hårt.
