After 12 hours and 31 min of running, walking and scrambling, Josefina and Björn reached the finishline as winner of Björkliden Arctic Mountain Marathon 70km. The race course was divided into two sections, with a compulsary overnight camp out on the mountain in between. All equipment needed, both for the race and the camping, was carried along the race course, approximately 9,5kg together for Josefina and Björn. The race course covered 33 km (as the crow flies) day 1, with 2600 m vertical climb, and 37 km and 2400 m climb day 2.
Josefina and Björn had a 14 minute lead after day 1, ahead of FJS/Addnature (Emil and Kristin Dahlqvist), and the best male team was another 30 minutes behind. Day 2 was pretty challenging with thick mist, strong wind and fresh snow above 1300 m and there were some short moments when Josefina and Björn almost regretted their decision to run in shorts…thanks to high speed and few navigational misstakes, they extended their lead and reached the finish line as first team on the 70 km race course.
